Lessons Afloat has been operating for over 40 years delivering engaging educational experiences which are aligned to the NSW Department of Education curriculum. Offering a unique on-water learning experience, we combine a private harbour cruise aboard our vintage ferries along with lessons delivered by experienced and qualified educators. Subject matter includes geography, WWII history, navigation, urbanisation, colonisation and more. Lessons Afloat school excursions on Sydney Harbour provide students with fieldwork opportunities including observation, recording, mapping and the exploration of different issues.
Our fleet of classic timber vessels have operated on Sydney Harbour since 1939, and form an important part of Sydney's working harbour history. Iconic to Sydney Harbour, each vessel is meticulously maintained, ensuring that these important pieces of Sydney's history endure. An excursion on Sydney Harbour can include a visit to hidden bays and secluded islands to provide an experience that is unique and memorable.
